Thank you for visiting the Home Page of George Racing Organisation, which was formerly Stark Racing. An amatuer motor sports team from Hertfordshire, England. Stark Racing began life back in 1986 when founder member Stephen George began Hillclimbing in his road going MGB GT V8. Stephen was soon joined by fellow MG enthusiast Mark Andrews and Stark Racing was born. It soon became obvious that road cars were not going to satisfy their desire to compete and so 1987 saw the arrival of the first Stark car, a ModSports Triumph Spitfire 1500. By the end of that season the Spitfire's handling and traction had been improved to a point where the highly tuned engine could not survive the demands made on it. Over the winter of that year a descision was taken to replace the Triumph engine with a Toyota 2TG 1600 cc. Twin Cam unit. The Toyota engine was obtained and the first steps towards tuning it and installing it in the Spitfire were under way when Steve & Mark were presented with the opportunity to buy a Single Seater Racing Car, the PMF 01, as a rolling chassis.

After a lot of modification the Toyota engine was installed in the PMF 01 and it was with this car that the friends each achieved their first success in 1988 taking one 1st place in the 1600 cc. class each.
By this time the urge to progress brought about the next change of car, this time to a Reynard SF79, although still fitted with the venerable Toyota engine. It was with this car that Stark Racing found real success. In 1992 Steve and Mark dominated the 1600 cc class in both Speed Championships they entered. Ending the season as Class Champion and Runner Up in both Championships.
From 1993 until November 1999 Stark Racing used a German made Maco 278 car powered by a 2 litre Novamotor engine. With this car the team achieved considerable success taking numerous class wins and Fastest Time of the Day placings, both drivers succeeded in being well placed in several Top Ten Run Offs. Amongst these results were second in class in 1993 and First and Second in Class in 1994 at the Frosts Brighton National Speed Trials. Our last results was in May 1999, fittingly at the Herts County Debden Sprint where Steve took the trophy for Best HCAAC member.
Sadly due to business concerns Mark has had to retire from Motor Sport and as a result the Maco has had to be sold. Both Mark and I wish the new owner success and as much fun as we have had.
The Maco has gone and with it Stark Racing but from it has come GRO. In 2000 I competed in a small number of sprints in my new car, a 1999 Mini John Cooper LE S Works, which I run in the production car class.
