My main
interest are the war memorials and Headstones of Rutland. I became
interested when I found out that my Grandfather's brother was killed on
the Somme in 1916. My grandmother had a picture of him, but nobody knew
anything about where he was killed apart from the general area of the
Somme.

I started
with the memorial at Morcott, Rutland, and recorded the names on it. I
checked for details of the names on the C.W.G.C site. The C.W.G.C. site
returned the date that my Gt. Uncle was killed and that he was in the 8th
Btn. of The Leicestershire Regiment and that his body was not found. I
found later that my Gt.Uncle was killed in the area of Bazentin-le-Petit
village. I am now taking photos (as and when I have the time) of all the
war memorials in Rutland. I also go to France and Belgium as and when I
get chance.

I would be
intrested in any information or pictures of the men from Rutland who were
killed in any of the wars
