Work Experience:

Marvel Comics- Doctor Who Lego

Recently I was approached by Gary Gillatt editor of Doctor Who Magazine who had seen my computer generated work at conventions and on my website. He commissioned a set of images to accompany an article. This work was  my first paying commission and involved:

* Working to a brief and a deadline

* Discussing the clients needs

* Problem solving

The work was well received both by the editor and the readers of the magazine and I am confident that it will lead to future commissions.

The images can be seen at my website  http://www.users.globalnet.co.uk/~sidrat

Big Finish- Dalek Empire Promo

Big Finish are a rapidly growing audio drama company. They have acquired the rights to produce Doctor Who on audio.  Having seen my work at convention and on the internet they approached me to produce a three  minute computer generated  trailer for their work.The finished product has been show to  science fiction convention audiences the world over and was well received. Big Finish are now looking into releasing the trailer as a bonus track on one of their releases and the possibility of  broadcast on  a U.K. satellite channel.

Battlefield Conventions-  Battlefield Three- Convention title sequence

Mark O’Grady of Battlefield conventions  had seem my work online and asked me to produce an opening sequence for his  science fiction convention.  The resulting sequence can be downloaded from   http://www.users.globalnet.co.uk/~sidrat/bat1.avi

Big Finish- Frobisher the Penguin

Having developed a good working relationship on the Dalek Empire project  I was happy to produce this rendered image and short animation for Big Finish. The brief was to produce a series of stills of a Penguin character for incorporation into their CD covers.  The design had to be translated from 2d to 3d  but retain the character of the comic book original.  The client was more than happy with the finished work (produced in two days to meet printing deadlines)  and a short animation featuring the character should hopefully appear online soon.

Stevens Video Production -   K-9 Unleashed

A  video production  company for whom I have just completed title graphics and a short animation,  involving a robotic  canine,  for their soon to be released  documentary.

Head Usher / Cashier in the regions largest cinema complex. I was recently promoted to the position of Head Usher, which required that I take charge of the shop floor and give instruction to a small group of ushers. During my employment I was required to work in all departments of the cinema and became a trusted and valued employee.  A recent evaluation was very positive and suggested that I could advance in the company, however my interests lie elsewhere.

Duties included:

* Training new staff.

* Dealing with the public both in person and over the phone.

* Handling large amounts of money.

* Working under extreme pressure.

* Prioritising and decision making.

* Motivating the staff I had responsibility for

In addition to my regular duties I also became involved in the cinema's promotional activities. My background and interest in art and design led to my designing the window displays to promote coming attractions. Designed to catch the attention of the passing customers the displays played an important part in boosting business and were well received by both managers and head office.

I enjoyed my time at Showcase but felt ready for something more challenging and so decided to attend Bournemouth University and pursue my interest in animation.
