Zines Available From Knightwriter Press

Chekov in Love and in Trouble:

Stories by Teegar Taylor, Berkeley Hunt and Jane Seaton, illustrated by Teegar Taylor (b+w and colour) and Marty Siegrist (b+w). Several of these stories are now available on the web, but not all, and the illos are worth the money all by themselves.

Swap, a novel by Jane Seaton:

Not available on the web

Lavishly illustrated by Teegar Taylor (b+w interior and colour cover)

..."Why can't Sam do night watches anyway?" Diek complained, hs pen hovering over a shift that was proving difficult to fill.
"Because..." Chekov closed his eyes. How much more simple it was than he'd realised. Of course the Duke wasn't engaged in an elaborate cover up. Sam was lying. Chekov had asked him where he was at the time of Rae's death and he'd lied. The lie was easily discovered, implying that he'd panicked. And why should he panic? "Because he's frightened."

Zines written and edited by Lois Balzer:

Second to None and Second Chance by Lois Balzer

Wondrously illustrated by Warren Oddson (b+w interiors, colour covers)

These two novels trace Ensign Chekov's attempts to find his feet when he first arrives aboard the Enterprise.

His timing is awful. In the episodes up to and including Amok Time, when we first see Chekov, Kirk goes through one personal or romantic crisis after another. By the time the ship arrives at Castor, to tie up the purchase of some dilithium, the captain is running on empty. He just wants to unwind, and Castor seems like the perfect place to do it. It's a disaster waiting to happen, and when it does, the fallout lands squarely on Chekov. The stories then become a battle to restore Chekov's faith in himself, and in his colleagues' integrity and competence. If you like Chekov-angst, you should like these zines. If you like Kirk-angst too, you should be in Second heaven. Adult, with some violence, but NOT slash.
