AIE - Knot - Figure of Eight

The Figure-of-Eight.

A terminal knot normally used to prevent a free rope end from slipping through another knot.

Stage 1. Form a simple loop.

Stage 2. Wrap once more to form a twist.

Stage 3. Pass the free end through the back of the first loop.

Stage 4. And tighten. Please note, the guidance contained within these web pages has obvious limitations. It is recommended that you obtain proper instruction from a relevant training provider before using any knots for serious applications such as tree climbing etc.
