Diameter or Girth Measuring Tape.

The diameter measuring tape is a special kind of measuring tape which enables the quick and easy calculation of tree diameters. The tape is printed with special graduations that convert a measure of circumference into its associated diameter. Graduations are available in imperial or metric and are normally rounded down to the nearest whole unit.

To use, simply wrap around the stem of the tree at the height you require and read off the value in a conventional manner. The indicated value is treated as the stem diameter.

Diameter tapes are available in various short lengths or as a conventional reel.
