International seasons are an integral part of our planning.

We started in 1995 with an African Season as part of Africa 95 featuring productions of Acquisitive Case by San Cassimally and Afamako by Bode Sowande. Black directors Femi Elufowoju and Steven Luckie went on to work at Stratford East and Birmingham Rep respectively.

In 1996 we premiered A Small World by Mustapha Matura and funded by LBGC and Southwark Council. 1997 saw a visit from New Zealand's top theatre company Circa in a series of three plays including the highly acclaimed Joyful and Triumphant by Robert Lord. A production of a new play by Biyi Bandele is planned for 1998.

Thieves Like Us by B.Bandele opens on 29th September
