Subject: Re: Asymmetry of conversion?
steve, i have not forgot about this--i just havent gotten around to it... but i have been thinking about it periodically since i first read it... i have some reservations about how the method is sketched out, but cannot go into them right now...i get many, many ex-atheists through the Tank, and they sometimes give me data with which to assess the 'warrant-level' of their pre-christian atheism (or whatever), but i know the level of knowledge of institutional skeptics is quite uneven (being copied periodically on some of the intra-skeptic community dialogues). there are other issues associated with western culture and upbringing. For example, when someone tells me that they were raised a flaming atheist and debated and refuted christians before becoming a Christian, i take that pre-Christian experience with the same grain of salt (relative to its personal-only authenticity) that i take some of the xtrians missionary, pastoral, and pro-christian apologetics precursory experiences...i know this is too terse to give you an idea of what i am getting at--sorry... i have surfaced a number of issue that i need to bring to your attention, for someome considering in developing your methodology, and i will attempt to get those written up for you by end of march (i am trying to move my house and family over the next three weeks, so time is very, very sparse...and my desires to write and my time to write are exceedingly asymmetrical (smile))... dont give up on me...fascinating question and issue, warmly, glenn |

<< i have not forgot about this--i just havent gotten around to it... >> Don't worry, I know you are a busy guy from reading your website! I just wanted to say thanks very much for writing. Your points are all good ones, and I will take them on board in any assessment I make. I look forward to any further comments - when you have time!
