Straying

I wish my pages to be a response to and discussion of all Jordan writes, (and an amplification of anything I feel is important) rather than merely impersonal analysis of the resurrection. I certainly wish to discuss the resurrection though and I want to get to the real heart of this matter of whether this is material worthy of converting skeptics to Christianity, or if rather examination of the resurrection would or should more likely de-convert Christians. It is quite ridiculous after everything I have sofar written to suggest that I am afraid of discussing the resurrection or "desperate to avoid dealing with the issue at hand" as Jordan accuses. People have previously complained that I refuse to let go of subjects and am a bit like a "dog with a bone."

It should already be obvious, but if not I will state it plainly, that I welcome intelligent and informed discussion on any matters, particularly the resurrection which I am finding interesting and stimulating. Rather than trying to "slither out" of discussing any aspect of the resurrection, (already the largest single area on my website) I am keen to continue this conversation. Name it and I'll talk about it. The resurrection is a big subject with many avenues, so I hope Jordan will be more patient with me if he perceives that I have not yet discussed something to his satisfaction, or if I wish to include other subjects which I think are pertinent.

However, my initial reason for contacting Jordan was due to my asymmetry of conversion research [ref], which is the real heart of what I wish to discuss. So there will necessarily be more material. I also do not wish to leave anything uncommented unless it looks too much like bickering. Jordan can complain if he thinks that is straying, but I see the asymmetry of conversion as my real project and all his resurrection material will be (and mostly has been) discussed in the course of it anyway. There is a lot more I wish to discuss about the resurrection, the historicity of Christianity, and anything else I feel is important as I delve further into my notes and books. There will be a "Resurrection - part 4" (and maybe more) with or without interesting or civil dialogue from Jordan. However, as a concession to Jordan I have kept the most direct resurrection discussion at the beginning of each part of my discussions, so that those who do not have the time for the rest of the debate can concentrate on that alone. I do think that the rest is important though, because there is more to Christianity and what is wrong with it than a single historical issue! Infact, I only changed the title of my discussion with Jordan to "The Resurrection" after some months - initially it was headed under the asymmetry of conversion, as is apparent by the still remaining directory structure for these pages.

The immediate issue is does somebody like Jordan converting to Christianity provide a compelling case for ex-Christians to be mistaken? The whole reason for asking is the wider question is Christianity true (or even in what way/ways is it false)? Thus the resurrection is our topic for discussion but not the reason for discussion. So other matters may arise, but rest assured that the resurrection will be discussed ad nauseam.
