These Clarinet compos (both midi and noteworthy composer files) are available together in a zip file by clicking here. If you have a basic sound card (less than a sound blaster) then you may prefer these versions.
These pieces were written for my friend Mark Harrison ("Harry" to his old school-chums).
Harry's Dizzy Clarinet
- Style - Jolly and Cheeky!
- Standard - Grade 8
Harry had just passed his Grade 8 with distinction (ooh!) so I decided to make good use of him and write something as hard as I could. I wrote the original when I was 21, then 8 years later I edited the piano part (which I thought was too heavy), although the Clarinet part stayed the same. So, here's the result! (Look out for the cadenza - I thought he was a virtuoso!)
Pseudo Variations
- Style - Fresh and pointed - with a reflective middle section (pseudo program note??)
- Standard - Grade 7
Harry and I had fun with this one - especially the sweeping runs and the pointed notes during the last section... I had intended this to be a set of variations, but it ended up as some sort of wonky Rondo-form.
