Anyway, a very interesting story. (If you'd like me to put a version of your "testimony" on the Secular Paganist, under whatever name or handle, let me know.) I know very well the dig-in-the-heels attempts to be a "true believer," but as you said, the beliefs are "teflon-coated," they just don't stick. As the evangelical apologists like to say, sincerity isn't enough. ;-) I've grown partial to reality, myself.
