SWAT Locks Family 2005 Christmas newsletter

Light Sabers

There was a bit of a Star Wars theme to the beginning of the year.

Amy even had a "Millennium Falcon" birthday cake.

The Family Blogcks

Steve started a "Blog" which is a "weblog" i.e. an online diary where anything of note (and much not of note) for our family goes for all to see. There is much more there covering the last year than in this newsletter. Go to slocks.blogspot.com and click around to see what you can find. Don't forget to look at the archives.

Top Music

Amy has been doing very well on her violin and practices violin, piano, recorder and now also ocarina every day. Tom likes to play along as well but will patiently listen to Amy doing her practice including her long orchestra rehearsals.

Holidays

This year we went to Centre Parcs near Nottingham, which we would recommend highly.

Chasing ducks out of our villa...

African drumming workshop:

Tom looks so peeved! He called that little spade a "skateboard" all during the holiday. Eventually we discovered that he has a Noddy word-learning book with an oddly drawn picture of a green skateboard that we guess was the source of that!

Get out of the paddling pool fast!

As usual much of the summer was spent in the paddling pool. Tom was having a go on a water slide when the next child to have a go suddenly discovered he had left something extra lubricating, runny and brown all over it.
That was the end of that game...

Other Summer activities:

Here is a selection of what else we got up to when it was too hot to be sensible.

We met up with some of my old school mates.

Zero gravity experiments...

Tilly and Tom. By a stroke of luck I moved the camera at the speed they were moving, so the background is motion blurred and they are not!

Many swimming trips were had...

Trips to Museums...

Non-stop birthday parties as usual...

Much messy eating...

Amy is getting ever more fond of animals and wants a hamster for her 7th birthday (I don't mean for everyone reading this to get her one though!)

and all the usual childrens activities...

Chilly indoor activities:

Steve has been spotting pond life from Wendy's parents' pond with the microscope. Just stick a digital camera on the end set on macro and you can get reasonable photos:

For a microscope picture of Amy's blood see the blog here.

We also engaged in a spot of culture and went to the new concert hall - the "Sage" in Gateshead. Here you can see it when we went to the Tall Ships races.

Amy is famous

The fire brigade came to Amy's school and this picture made it into the local rag.

Be good...

We hope you enjoyed those cute pictures of the children.

Now, stop mucking about on the Internet or else...

Love from Steve, Wendy, Amy and Tom.
