Philosophy of Philosophizing about music give-aways Crazy Compos!

These compositions are free for you to printout and perform.
Yes, yes, so you say, but why?

I thought they might be useful to more people than just myself and a few friends.

Although they are no great works, they are fun to play, particularly suitable for the vast majority of people who play musical instruments for a hobby, and generally easy enough to learn. So now I'm online I thought I'd share them with whoever would like to down load them. They are free to copy, printout, distribute, use and perform as you desire. Play them to your friends, auntie, cat, use them as background music for your website, bath, candlelit dinner. However if I catch you selling them for money I will be cross! They are musical "freeware" or at least "emailware." If you use a piece, why not send me an to help me know what pieces are popular. If you want to write criticisms then that's fine too (but don't be too harsh!)

Of course, midi files don't do much for musical expression, although I've tried to put in as much dynamic and time tweaking as possible until I became totally knackered.... So, you'll have to imagine finer subtleties, or even better print the music out, play it and put them in yourself.

My musical education stopped at 'A' Level music and grade 8 piano so I'm not claiming much expertise, composition is purely a hobby. My wife is a music teacher who plays the piano, violin and flute all very well, and dabbles in the clarinet and guitar. So these days she is my accomplice in most of these pieces. She has also helped me in grading the pieces in line with the Associated Board (UK) system to give an idea of how easy they are to play.

Finally I use quite a lot of astronomy software that is both freeware and shareware. I'm not up to writing such complex programs myself, so I thought I'd do my bit and put my music on the net for free. Hopefully some writer of free astronomy software who is looking for a new piano/flute/violin/clarinet piece will stumble across these pages!

Thanks for reading and listening. I hope you find something you like.
