STOLEN SPANGLES
Smart Collecting believes a shipment of blue-faced Spangle Beanie Babies were stolen from a Chicago warehouse. "Ty, Inc. claims not to have shipped any "legitimate" shipments of the Blue Spangle to Ty accounts," explains Peggy who received this information directly from a Ty Sales rep. All auctions (except for pre-sale) for a blue-face Spangle Beanie have been once again removed from eBay.
On September 18, 1999, many blue-face Spangle Beanie auctions were also removed from eBay. Sellers received a letter from eBay that stated, " Ty has provided a sworn statement under the penalty of perjury of law that the item(s) in question violate their copyright, trademark or other rights. Ty has contacted eBay directly and informed us that Ty has not even released this product, and therefore any item now in the hands of the public is either counterfeit, or has been stolen from their company." According to Peggy, the blue-face Spangle Beanie is not scheduled to be shipped to Ty accounts until October or November. If you are a Ty retailer and have received a shipment from Ty of the blue-face Spangle Beanie, please contact us at jag@smartcollecting.com.
Many collectors would like to know if the blue-face Spangle Beanies they already purchased on auction sites could be considered stolen property.

letter sent from a retailer in the U.S.A.
Ty is basically laying the law down about Retailers Trans-shipping,
or back-door selling of it's Ty Products.
Stating they will terminate it's sales of Ty products for any
reason, including trans-shipping.

Collectors get ready because it looks like Ty has just
released a whole new set of coins to collect in the Beanie Babies
Official Club Platinum Kits distributed in both the U.S. and
Canada! Two days ago, Joanne in Canada reported finding a
Clubby coin in her Platinum Kit. Last evening, Bruce from
Sherwood, Ohio reported finding a Mooch coin in a Platinum Kit
that he purchased in Defiance, Ohio. Will from Prince
Edward Island, Canada also found a Mooch coin and Cyndee and
Charles from Ontario, Canada found a Millennium coin as well as a
Mooch coin in their Platinum kits! Stay tuned… it looks like

Ty Inc. hosted their annual family employee picnic in Suburban
Chicago on Sunday, September 12th.
Employees were presented with a special Beanie bear, Billionaire
#2, cranberry in color with a double $$ embrodiered in gold on
its chest. Each hang tag was individaully signed with a gold ink
pen by Ty Warner.
The original Billionaire Bear was given at last year's employee
picnic.

According to a notice posted on the Ty Cyberboard on Sept 11, 1999 at 9:57 a.m. from the Friends at Ty, a newsflash regarding the retirement of "all Beanie Babies" will be made on the 1st of October! The following poem also appeared:

A new tush tag was first reported to be found on the new releases displayed at the U.K. Trade show, the tags have changed from a ribbon loop of material to a single (no fold) rectangular piece of material with the Ty® hologram logo on one side and the text information on the other side. The information on the tags are the same as the current Gosport tags. Not only will the new releases carry the new tush tag, it is also appearing on current styles set to retire by the end of the year. Click Here to see the pictures of the new tags.

According to information posted on Ty's Cyberboard, Ty
Warner has signed 2,000 Ty 2K bears on the chest in a permanent
Blue Marker. "They are to be randomly distributed between
all participating countries," explains Jan from Florida.

I have heard from a reliable source that during the month of October, Ty will announce his 'NEW' year 2000 range of Beanies. It is also very much 'Rumoured' that these WILL be called Beane Babies ('e' and no 'i'). 'The End' Bear symbolizes the end of this millennium, hence the fireworks on his chest and maybe the end of Bean'i'e.
It looks like the Britannia Buddy could be a very valuable addition to anyone's collection with only 4 per customer being shipped a month. The new release Beanies will be supplied 12 per shop for priority accounts and 6 for low priority. Please note when I say customer I mean the main Ty dealers not the public !
Birmingham NEC Update
Many people were upset who visited the show on Monday hoping to see the 'New Beanies' as they were no longer on display. The reason seems to be (although unconfirmed) that this was due to pictures being taken of them and showing up on the internet. If this is the case then why does Ty not release the pictures himself, more games with the public? are we all not getting fed up with this?

This is the poem on the hang tag of "THE END" BEAR.
I've just come back from a large TRADE SHOW here in BIRMINGHAM UK
where TY had all the new beanies and buddies on display !!!! They
look great.
GROOVY & WALLACE are made of a fabric similar to Fuzz. Groovy
is tie-died and Wallace green with a Tartan scarf.
Ty 2K is white with 'tickertape' coloured squares
HOLIDAY BEAR is a superb pale blue with white snowflakes all over.
I thought
it looked really cool.
SHEETS is like Spooky but with a white sheet over it and a
ghostly face -
not sure about this one.
Chipper, Scaly, Slowpoke & Honks all look good with a
different fabric and
look to them. Scaly for example actually stands up on its four
legs.
BUT the real winner is THE END Bear. All black with a gold bow-tie
around its neck and gold fireworks embroidered on its chest. It
does not have a birth date and as you will see the poem leaves
everyone guessing.
The Buddies also looked great. Britannia will certainly be the
one to get.
TY Reps appeared to know little more than what the annoucement
stated. They all had laminated copies of the annoucement and said
deliveries would start in October if you ordered at the show.
The Stall was packed and Beanies are far from dead in the UK.

A blue face Spangle has been reported in the USA. The person who brought one said the following:
I thought you might be interested in a picture of a BLUE faced Spangle that I picked up today. I bought it in the Chicago area at a Beanie show and it is absolutely authentic. The blue is a little washed out in the picture but it looks like the blueberry girl in Willie Wonka!

new bears by the Ty rep on the phone when I ordered this morning:
Wallace - Scottish Bear - green with red scarf
Groovy - Ty-dyed Bear
Ty 2K - White Bear with confetti specks
1999 Holiday Teddy - Blue Bear with white snowflakes and blue hat
The End - Black Bear with "The End" written on chest
I was also told that the summer exclusives could only be ordered
by accounts who had previously ordered them at a trade show.
