Analyze This

As reviewed by Miguel Crackhead Kesey

You talkin' to me? YOU TALKIN' TO ME? It's been a long time since Robert DeNiro was half as baldy as he was in the fantastic Taxi Driver, and Analyze This, the great new comedy by Harold Ramis is quite pants in comparison. That's right...pants. A big pair with skidmarks at that...

Ok, I'm being a tad harsh...after all, Harold WAS in Ghostbusters.

Anyway, the film stars Robert DeNiro as a Mafia boss who is a tad on the depressed side due to a life feeling guilty because of his father's death. He proceeds to get help from an unwilling psychiatrist, Billy Crystal (whose funniest line in the entire film is : "Easter Weekend"). Now, I normally like Billiard Crystal Glasses, but he wasn't up to the usual standards in this film...

It plods along quite predictably, and is relatively funny, but nothing hilarious...nowhere near as good as Billyboy's other classics : Throw Momma From The Train...and....err.. Throw Momma Down The Laundry Chute...which was banned in seven countries. Naw, he was cool in City Slickers too...and City Slickers one...haw haw.

Robert DeNiro's acting skills are tested to the limit as he pretends to cry, and does it so badly, I felt like pulling his arms out.

The only part of the film I really liked is when Billy Crystal has to pretend to be a spokesperson for Robert DeNiro (big Bobby DeNasalhair can't go to a meeting because he's depressed, so Billiardball Chrystian has to step in)...now, if you're going to see the film, this is the part that makes it worth it...

But, all in all, it's pretty good...I wouldn't really recommend it, but if you're bored and dying of pneumonia, then, yeah, go see it...it's something to do, isn't it?
