Death Wish
As reviewed by Miguel Crumbs Kesey
Oooh, you silly boy. A bad, bad film starring Charles (Murphy) Bronson of "Robocop" fame as Murphy Kersey, a liberal architect in New York City. Once again, Brosnan's hair does most of the acting in this ridiculous, dated farce in which he swings socks filled with quarters around in his apartment.
Apparently, this film was "controversial" for its 1974 release and hasn't been available to buy for 15 years. Perhaps because it's pish.
Anyway, Murphy's wife and daughter goto the supermarket one day and are stalked home by Jeff Goldblum and some other people (who, strangely enough, are credited as "Freaks" in the sillily short credits) who go into their house and rape the daughter and kill the mother. Of course, the thugs spraypaint the daughter's bum red to represent a deeply symbolic and ritualistic form of buggery, or something.
Anywho, Murphy gets angry about this and ends up going about killing as many thugs as he can find, until he gets shot in the leg, and the cops catch him...however, the cops let him get out of the city...and he does. He goes to Chicago, and puts on a stupid face while pointing at some flamboyantly dressed maniacs.
It's a slow-paced, boring piece of bodge.
