Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas

As reviewed by Miguel Comeonyoufiend Kesey

Oooh, Johnny Depp with no hair. I've only seen this film once, and it was a while ago, so I don't really remember much about it. However, I have read the book and it made about as much sense as a bulldozer with no internal alarm system.

Anywho, Johnny Depp plays Hunter S. Thompson, or Rauol Duke in this drug-fuelled surrealism directed by Monty Python's Terry Gilliam.

It's about Johnny, the journalist and his attorney, Dr. Gonzo, who travel to Las Vegas to do a story on quad racing or something, and they basically stock up on lots of drugs and make a mess of hotel rooms.

I think this film would've been an absolute nightmare had it not been for Johnny Depp's hilarious token "take the piss" acting once again. With lines like "Come on, you fiend" and "Fucking golf shoes!" churned out in an Ed Wood meets John Cleese accent, it's hard to not laugh...especially when he manages to shout loudly into a megaphone for no apparent reason.

Lovely film.
