Ferris Bueller's Day Off
As reviewed by Miguel CameronwasinEgyptsland Kesey
One of those John Hughes movies again, eh? Like Home Alone and Planes, Trains And Automobiles. Anyway, as an avid fan of Matthew Broderick (of nothing else fame (except Godzilla, Inspector Gadget and The Cable Guy fame)) I enjoy this movie.
It's about Ferris Bueller, a teen with a bright white t-shirt, and a Colgate smile, who pretends that he's sick so he can get a day off school to go into the big city (nah, nah...) with his pals.
He seems to have numerous costume changes.
So, lots of things happen...the principal of school ends up chasing him around, his sister wants him caught, his best pal goes through a little crisis due to his bastard father, and his parents are amusingly unknowing. This is the sort of teen movie that puts things like The Faculty to shame...
It also holds some quite artistic scenes, like the one in err...the art museum. Quite irrelevant, but rather poignant.
There's a cameo appearance from Charlie Sheen as a druggie bastard who gets off with Ferris' sister in a police station.
But anyway, it all ends well, and Ferris gets back to his house in time before his parents come home. It's simple enough stuff on the exterior...entertaining, and quite realistic of boredom in schools. Internally, quite artistic and intelligent, but it doesn't always show...as only the best movies do. It's good, without having to prove anything.
