Under 11's Match Reports 1999/2000
11/9/99 Appollo Juniors 2 Bollington Utd 2 (League)
For the first game of the season Bollington United were away to title favourites Appollo Juniors. Bollington created untold pressure on the home side early on and after a classy build up from the back involving several players and a slick ball from Alex Jackson gave Chris Simons a half chance, which he buried in style.
Bollington continued with wave after wave of attacks, which resulted in Chris Simons scoring from a difficult angle. But Bollington were caught twice on the break in the second half and allowed Appollo a 2-2 draw.
18/9/99 Bollington Utd 1 Ladybridge 8 (League)
25/9/99 Lisbon 3 Bollington Utd 5 (Friendly)
2/10/99 Bollington Utd 4 Stockport Dynamoes 10 (Friendly)
9/10/99 Bollington Utd 8 Lostock Rangers 5 (League)
Bollington U-11s were looking for their first league win of the season against high-flying Lostock Rangers, with Bolly only managing to field a bare eleven. After a opening ten minutes onslaught on the visitors goal Bollington failed to register and Lostock on a rare breakaway scored first. This was soon equalised by the goal of the game a viscous shot on the run by Jordan Swindells. Craig Templeton and Chris Simons added a goal apiece before the visitors replyed again. A sweet left-footed free kick from Alex Jackson took the home side into a 4-2 half-time lead.
For once Bolly held their discipline and increased their lead in the second half, through a further three goals from Chris Simons and another from Templeton. The visitors railed hard at the end to pull a few back but Bolly ran out winners 8-5. Man of the match was Chris Simons for his 4-goal haul, but well done the other ten.
16/10/99 Spurley Hey 3 Bollington Utd 4 ( League)
Bollington travelled to Spurley Hey in search of a first league away win of the season, against a side which we lost and drew with last year. Within a minute Bollington were one down, and thereafter the visitors played 25 minutes of attractive football. Jordan Swindells equalized with a viscous shot from the right. The goal of the game followed with a peach of a volley from Jonny Saatchi, created by Jamie Cavanagh on the left. Goal machine Chris Simons was soon on the score sheet quickly followed by Alex Jackson. With Bolly 4-1 up and cruising a lapse in concentration allowed the home side to pull one back before Half-time.
The second half was a complete contrast, Spurley dominated the whole period. They scored early, but thanks to John Spinks in goal and Richard Shuttleworth, Dominic Mcarththy, Tom Bamford and Man of the match Chris Murphy, Bolly held on to a well earned victory.
30/10/99 Bollington Utd 0 Hazel Grove 6 (League)
Bollington played 'Table Toppers' Hazel Grove and were battered 6-0. Bolly had 0 shots on target and never played well. Debuts for Callum O'Conner and Sam McKendric. Not many good performances. Man of the match went to yet again Chris Murphy who was really the only good player on the field making good runs and tackles.
6/11/99 Hazel Grove 4 Bollington Utd 3 (cup)
Bollington United ran out in appalling conditions to face Hazel Grove in the Stockport Metro Cup who the week before had hammered them 6-0. The match was so muddy even Alex Jackson messed up his hair. After an onslaught on Bolly's goal, Chris Simons rattled two goals in, one a rebound. Then Hazel Grove came back and if it wasn't for Bolly's defence Tom Morris, Chris Murphy, Tom Bamford, Rick Shuttleworth and the goalkeeper John Spinks, the Grove could have scored ten. They did manage to get two back before half time but it would have been worse if their 6-footer Number Six's shot had not skimmed the bar. But they did score: a header from a corner and a rebound from a 1-on-1. Bollington came in at half-time, brown with mud but pleased with their performance so far.
After an opening five minutes Groves' Number Eleven chipped to put them into a 3-2 lead. But Chris Simons did it again! Pouncing on a long ball, "Goal Machine" used his skills to take on five players and the goalkeeper to slip in the equalizer. The "Match of the Day" camera crew should have taped it for their Goal of the Season. Bolly then had a Craig Templeton shot cleared off the line and some truly great saves from Grove's keeper. Grove then hammered back, forcing both post and bar to rattle - but not Bolly's keeper. Until a woefully short clearance led to powerful shot that nearly ripped the net! Spinksy made up for his mistake with a great save at the end. It was a solid defensive performance which Man U would have been pleased with, including great performances from Jonny Saatchi and Alex Jackson in midfield, and Callum at the end. The Strikers also had great games with good service from both wings. Man of The Match went to a centre back with a brilliant game: Tom Bamford.
13/11/99 Bollington United 3 Woodley Albion 5
20/11/99 Ladybride County 2 Bollington Utd 2
On a frosty pitch Bolly traveled to a team who had won 8 out of 8 including a 8-1 trashing of Bolly. Ladybridge were on the back of a 3-1 victory over Hazel Grove. The home side had a good start but were caught on the break by, yet again, Chris Simons created by a great ball from Alex Jackson in midfield. The home side battled and were rewarded by 2 goals in 10 minutes. Some debate whether the ball crossed the line on the first goal as Chris Murphy volleyed the ball away. Bolly ran in for Half-time 2-1 down.
In the second half Bolly defended well with special performances by all especially Sam McKendric who provided good tackles on a number of occasions. A searchful long ball gave Chris Simons a chance to score and he did in great style, slotting the ball underneath the goalkeeper. Bolly clinged on for the draw. They celebrated in joyful style with the good old Klinsmann led by celebration specialist Craig Templeton. (We feel sorry for this weeks kit washer, John Simons). Man of the Match went to Alex Jackson for his solid performance in central midfield.
27/11/99 Bollington United 2 Appolo Juniors 2
Bolly played the league's bottom side who were once league favourites. Appolo started well but a long ball gave Chris a chance to score and he did with a great finish. But on form Sam Mcendric gave way early on for a painful injury. Jonny Saatchi was moved back from midfield to his (less favourite) position centre back. But the new pair of him and Richard Shuttleworth played well until a collapse in the defence gave Appolo a equalizer. But Chris Simons scored to give Bolly a 2-1 half-time lead.
In the second half Bolly were pushed back and a free-kick gave Appolo a draw. Good performances from the defence but mainly Jordan Swindells and man-of-the-match Chris Simons for his two goals. It wasn't a great result but still it was a battling performance.
11/1/00 Bollington United 2 Stockport Vikings 1
In this friendly a (rusty) Bollington United side faced Stockport Vikings from the League below them. The Size of the Vikings was enormous but they lacked skill. All they managed was a few Big Whacks. In the first half Chris Simons scored a great goal following up a spectacular lob by "Debut Boy" Dominic Lennard. On the only attack from the Vikings their one speedy player raced down the wing and with the last kick of the half scored from a difficult angle.
In the second half Bollington pressed but could not find another. Mr. Jackson made a few changes. Jonny up-front, Smurf Right-Mid, Dominic Lennard left-back, Chris Simons Centre Mid, Mozza left-mid, Callum O'Conner up-front and Craig Templeton centre mid. Actually alot of changes. With this riduculous side Bolly ran out worthy winners 2-1. Man of the match was Rick Shuttleworth for his strong performance.
18/1/00 Lostock Rangers 0 Bollington United 3
In Bollys first League match in the new Millennium they faced the team who Bolly won the first game of the season against. In the first half Chris Simons scored a great pounder from outside the Box. Then Lostock won an Indirect free-kick inside the Bolly area for a debatable pass back. But the shot skimmed the bar on its way over the woodwork. Before long a Jordan Swindells shot was touched by the keeper and was trickling over the line when a Lostock defender smashed it against the post and straight back in. Chris Simons should of had another but his shot sizzled wide.
In the second half Chris scored a great Lob over the keeper but missed a glorious chance for a Hat-Trick which cracked over the bar. Bollington defended Amazingly and because of the strength of Man of the Match Rick Shuttleworth, mad tackles by Tom Morris, Sam Mcendric and Chris Murphy and the saves from John Spinks, Bolly celebrated Klinsman's for their first clean sheet of the season.
25/1/00 Bollington United 1 Spurley Hey 2
Bollington faced Spurley Hey on a pitch that turned out to be a Boxing Ring. Without Chris Simons Bollington played Jamie Cavanagh out of position to partner Craig. Spurley scored twice in the first half. One a debatable kick out of John Spink's hands and a one-on-one. Another debatable chance from Tom Bamford seemed to of trickled over the linebefore a defender cleared it but Martin Jackson (who was reffing) said no. This resulted in fighting. But the highlight of the game was Spurleys actor "Tiny Tears" who managed to cry at any time possible. "See you at Drama School." was Sam Mcendrics response to it all.
In the second half, the match seemed not much different. More fighting resulted in more threats by the ref to send people off. Tiny tears was still crying and still it went on. Suddenly Chris Simons popped round the corner in his Mercedes (Just Like Superman).
"Hurry up!" shouted Mozza. "We need you". As soon as Chris was able to come his first touch allowed him to spin round a defender and thump the ball into the bottom corner with a spectacular effort from well outside the box. But Bolly couldn't keep it up and the final result was 2-1. When it became time to put marks on the refferees report. John Wilkinson (Bollys Manager) gave 8 out of 10. While the Spurley Manager who had every decision in his favour, only gave a mere 6 out of 10.
Hazel Grove 4 Bollington United 2
A brave performance from Bolly wasn't enough to stop Bollington Losing. Grove went ahead when they're 'Giant' scored a low header to put them ahead. They scored again before Chris Simons got one back before Half-Time.
In the second half Chris equalized after a slick move by the Bollington Attack. But it wasn't enough as Grove managed two late goals. Man of the match went to Alex Jackson for his heroics in Midfield. Well done also to the defenders especially John Spinks the Goalie.
Bollington United 5 Bramhall North 8
At half time it was 5-2 to Bolly. But poor defending in the second half gave Bolly the 3rd loss on the trot.
Bramhall North 1 Bollington United 2
Bollington finaly managed a win in a great game of football. They took the lead when Chris Simons headed in off a corner (his first goal this season with his nut). It remained the same to Half-Time where the players drank some well earned Orange Juice.
In the second half Chris slotted home a long ball from Alex Jackson and Jordan Sawas definitely should of made it 3-0 where he missed an open net from the goaline! Bramhall did exactly the same a few minutes later when they hit the post. A shot from a Bramhall's striker saw John palm it away only to see the ball fall to another attacker with an open ne on the far post! This time he did hit the target only to see John lunge across his line and punch it out for a corner. But Bolly didn't hold on for they're second clean sheet of the season as Bramhall grabbed a late consolation.
Woodley Albion 8 Bollington United 1
With 9 Players and an eight year old brother Bolly faced the leagues top side who only needed a point to secure the title. They did win after only leading 2-1 at the break. In the second half it was all Woodley and the final score was 8-1. Man of the match went to Jonny Saatchi who had a glorious performance all through the match.
Stockport Dynamoes 9 Bollington United 2
With ten players and yet again the super eight year old Tom McKendrick Bolly faced Stockport Dynamoes. They battled hard and came in leading 2-1 at the break.
But in the second half Bolly defended badly and Dynamoes scored 8. But it could of been more if man of the match John Spinks hadn't been on top form.
