QPR managed to grab a point from The City Ground today in a 1-1 draw with Nottingham Forest, despite being down to 10 men.Forest should have taken all three points from the game but somehow managed to throw away a significant period of pressure, only to find themselves undone by a Ready goal in the second half. Ian Wright opened up the scoring in his first game for the Reds when he was fed into the box by Riccardo Scimeca. The former England striker strolled into the area and lifted the ball over the advancing Micklosko to give the home side the lead on the half hour. He should have made it two just before half time when his shot was handled on the line by Darlington and a penalty was awarded. Darlington was ordered to leave the field and Wright's penalty clipped the post to leave the half time score at 1-0. With a one man advantage in the second half, Forest looked to add to their lead, Wright saw a shot tipped onto the post and Freedman somehow managed to sky an effort over the crossbar from only two yards. Forest's inability to find a second let QPR back into the game and a scrappy goal earned the visitors a point. Tony Scully put a ball into the area and Ready's turn and shot bounced off of a melee of players and into the back of the net past a stranded Mark Crossley. Rangers survived a few late chances from Harewood, Wright and Allou and somehow managed to steal a point from what should have been the jaws of defeat. Forest could have won this game with ease but proved not to have the final spirit needed to see off a proud Rangers side. QPR will have been delighted to have taken a point from this game and the fighting spirit shown will be a useful asset in what is going to prove to be a tough season all round.
