Rangers crashed to their first defeat of the season when going down to a 2-1 defeat against Bolton at the Reebok Stadium. It was the home side that got off to the brighter start with Gudjohnson and Frandsen both forcing saves from Miklosko, before Holdsworth broke the deadlock from the penalty spot on 11 minutes. Rangers could feel hard done by with the referee's decision to award the penalty after Holdsworth went down in the box after an innocuous challenge by Baraclough. Rangers were offering little in response at that stage with a Kiwomya long range shot the only effort of note. Wanderers continued to ask all the questions and Holdsworth was unlucky to see his curling shot go just wide of the post.QPR were back on level terms on 37 minutes when Whitlow bungled Kiwomya over in the box and Peacock stepped up to shoot home from the spot. Miklosko had to be at his sharpest just before the break when saving two efforts from Holdsworth and then another from Jensen. After the interval Gudjohnson and Frandsen combined well before the Dane lashed in a 20 yard volley that Miklosko again did well to save. Bolton got their noses in front for the second time during the match on 64 minutes when Gudjohnson beat Miklosko at the second attempt. In the closing stages Rangers had several good opportunities to rescue a point but a combination of poor finishing and good goalkeeping kept Bolton in front. Gallen was unlucky to see his 20 yard shot hit the under side of the bar and then Kiwomya should have done better after collecting a Scully cross in the box. Kiwomya then crossed to Peacock but his effort was saved by Branagan
