Rob Steiner's sending off after Paul Peschisolido's 17th minute
goal ended any comeback hopes in a 1-0 defeat.
Peschisolido on a better day could have had a first half hat-trick,
but he couldn't add to his 17th minute opener.
The only goal of the game came from Paul Trollope's fiercely
driven free-kick.
Ludo Miklosko could only parry the effort, and the Canadian
international slipped in to hit home the rebound.
Peschisolido then hit the side netting before missing a close
range sitter.
Geoff Horsfield knocked the ball down for Peschisolido, who
inexplicably missed from six yards.
QPR - shorn of several first teamers - offered little in attack
and Stuart Wardley's misplaced shot was their only threat on Maik
Taylor's goal.
With eleven men it was tough going, but with four minutes of the
half remaining, Rangers' uphill battle got even harder.
Rob Steiner had already picked up a caution when he was alleged
to have dived in the box, and was sent off for a second caution.
The second half was all one way traffic with Ludo Miklosko
standing in the way of a rout.
The former Hammers keeper made a remarkable double save from Lee
Clark and Peschisolido to keep the score at 1-0.
Gerry Francis' expectations weren't high going into the game due
to all his injury problems, and he was probably relieved to have
ended up with just a 1-0 defeat.
