|Dupplin Cross: inscribed with the name of a famous Pictish king - the heart of Forteviot|
Dupplin Cross East face, prior to its removal from
a hillside setting above Forteviot in Strathearn.
It was borrowed by the Museum of Scotland as
sentinel to the medieval collections, but has now
been returned to the Forteviot community and is
housed within the church of Dunning.
|Cup-marked rock often associated with or carved on
recumbent group within stone circles. Portable
cup-marked stones were assumed of sacred origin,
judging by the number which were overlaid with
early cross-incised carvings in 8th & 9th centuries.
