Once again, the site of the historic Eaton Hall Railway and its present-day layout opened to the public for train rides and photographic opportunities with replica Heywood well-tanks Katie and Shelagh complemented by the very much original Cagney 4-4-0 No. 44 from The Rhyl Miniature Railway.  Very welcome support for this annual event came once more from volunteers at The Llangollen Railway.

Resident locomotive Katie having arrived at the terminus... ...the locomotive then takes water near the original shed building.
Hand shunting Shelagh chimney first
As usual, the guard's van was shunted to the other end of the train. On a later working, Shelagh is signalled back over the triangle junction.

Out on the circuit, Cagney 44 and the covered saloon carriage from Rhyl received water and supplies from a mobile servicing unit. The first part of the circuit runs along the cricket ground boundary.

At the next curve, the main driveway diverges towards the hall's prominent monument. The Cagney 4-4-0 pauses at the regulation point before returning to the intermediate station.

Like 44, Katie was kept busy with passenger trains starting form the main terminus throughout the afternoon... ..in common with Shelagh, this meant that alternate trains with each tank engine operated chimney first.

Rhyl footplate crews shared in driving... ...the various runs made by the 4-4-0 tender locomotive.

Cagney and saloon Carriage

The open balconies of the saloon carriage provided a good view... ... as well as some welcome fresh air on what was a very warm day at Eaton Hall!
