OUR NEW BOOK!

The 125 has rightly been called the World's Most Successful Mid-size Business Jet.
Conceived and designed some 35 years ago by the de Havilland Aircraft Company, this
British aircraft which has outsold any other UK civil jet, is still in production,
albeit now owned by the US company, Raytheon.

The full story of this remarkably versatile aircraft has never been fully documented
before, and consequently renowned aviation writer Bill Gunston was commissioned,
initially by British Aerospace and subsequently by Raytheon, to write the definitive
history. Bill was given full access to the programme archives and to senior
programme managers, both current and retired, in order to make the work as complete
     and accurate as possible.

As well as recording the chronological and technical development of the aircraft over
the years, the text is liberally filled with anecdotes and incidents. The book
contains more than 40,000 words spanning 14 chapters, plus a series of appendices
giving 3-view drawings, specifications, production breakdown numbers, etc.

To illustrate the book, the company's extensive photographic archives were researched
for relevant pictures and supplemented with material from the private collection
belonging to aviation historian, Philip Birtles.

The Author: Bill Gunston was an RAF cadet at the University of Durham in 1945 and then
spent three years in Southern Rhodesia, Germany and the UK, flying a variety of
aircraft. After a three-year engineering course at Northampton Engineering College
(today the City University) in the heart of London, he (as the Secretary of the
RAeS put it) "threw a way a promising career" by joining the magazine Flight.
Appointed Technical Editor in April 1955, he travelled widely - even as far as Hatfield!
Since 1971 he has been a freelance writer, with over 300 books published.

Selling points: the first truly definitive book on one of the British aircraft
industry's most successful projects, written by one of the country's most
renowned and prolific aviation writers. Published to mark the end of
production in the UK and the transfer of final assembly to the USA.
