The bog garden
Introduction
The bog garden is a shady, naturally damp area next to the house. The lawn slopes towards this area and as the soil
is clay below about 2ft, the water drains very slowly from this area. During periods of heavy rain there is often
an inch of surface water in places. A small area has also been dug out and lined with pond liner so that even during
the height of summer it retains some moisture. Part of it has also been raised to allow the use of some less
tolerant plants.
