Introduction
Climate Prediction .Net or CPDN for short is a distributed computing (DC) project running on approximately 30000
home PCs worldwide - mostly on the BOINC platform. You can go to the official CPDN Website here : [
CPDN website ]
I've only been running the project on a 2.4Ghz Desktop PC since September 2003 but have since completed just short of 300 model years. The project
as a whole is well past 2 million!
In order to give users more visibility of the data their machines was producing, I created two independent applications.
 | CPView - Early on in the project, there was no way to look at the data in detail so I wrote a quick Excel application which could be used to display simple maps. Since then the application
has come a long way and is now in use by a large number of CPDN participants. |
| | Discussion of this application amongst
the CPDN user group can be viewed on their discussion pages here : [ CPDN Topic 1050]. |
| | CPView is freeware and can be downloaded from the CPView page here : [CPView]. |
 | CPView Gallery - This is a gallery of images generated by CPView users showing some of the more interesting experimental results. |
 | CPFarmView - Later, a number of people runnning more than one machine asked for a way to view the progress of their 'farms' over a network. The result was CPFarmView
which reports on various aspects of the models such as the global temperature, how fast the machine is and when the model is expected to finish. |

| | CPFarmView is freeware and can be downloaded from the CPFarmView page here : [CPFarmView]. |
 | CPView on the - In June 2004, the BBC published an article on their website linking the CPDN project with the new Holywood blockbuster 'The Day After Tomorrow'.
The article used graphics generated by CPView, showing one possible effect of reduced Thermo-Haline Circulation.
A copy of the article can be found here : [BBC Article]. |

 | Irony - And finally, my 'irony' emoticon in case anyone wants it... Right-click and choose 'Save Picture As'. |
 | SQL MONitOR - This is a useful monitoring tool for SQL Server, written by a friend of mine. It provides everything you could realistically need to monitor and manage the health of your database. |
