Student Advice Centre

The Student Advice Centre is staffed by full-time professional advisers who can provide advice and information on a wide range of issues, including housing, finance, international and academic.

Leaflets are available from the Centre on a variety of topics, including individual academic problems, such as changing or abandoning your course, appealing against your exam results or making a complaint.  Copies of relevant University publications, such as the Students' Charter, are also available.  Further information and advice on individual academic problems are available by seeing one of the Advisers.
..
Richard Eastall, the Education and Welfare Manager, who manages the Advice Centre, also works with the Academic & Welfare Secretary and the Academic Committee to provide additional support for student reps.  Briefing papers are produced on relevant issues, such as Decision-Making within the University of Sheffield and Quality Assessment.  Surveys of students' views are also carried out from time to time at the request of Academic Committee on issues of concern, such as library facilities, computing facilities, modularisation and course costs.  Copies of the survey and brief ing reports are available from the Advice Centre or from the Sabbatical Office.
