Student Advice Centre
The Student Advice Centre is
staffed by full-time professional advisers who can provide advice and information
on a wide range of issues, including housing, finance, international and
academic.
Leaflets are available from
the Centre on a variety of topics, including individual academic problems,
such as changing or abandoning your course, appealing against your exam
results or making a complaint. Copies of relevant University publications,
such as the Students' Charter, are also available. Further information
and advice on individual academic problems are available by seeing one
of the Advisers.

Richard Eastall, the Education
and Welfare Manager, who manages the Advice Centre, also works with the
Academic & Welfare Secretary and the Academic Committee to provide
additional support for student reps. Briefing papers are produced
on relevant issues, such as Decision-Making within the University of Sheffield
and Quality Assessment. Surveys of students' views are also carried
out from time to time at the request of Academic Committee on issues of
concern, such as library facilities, computing facilities, modularisation
and course costs. Copies of the survey and brief ing reports are
available from the Advice Centre or from the Sabbatical Office.
