Funding
The
funding of this project was only made possible by the support and generosity of
those contributing to local fund raising events and appeals that, in turn,
attracted major partnership funding grants from bodies such as English
Heritage, the Historic Churches Preservation Trust, the Garfield Weston Trust,
the Shropshire Historic Churches Trust and the Wolfson
Foundation.
Future work
The
architect's 1997 report also drew attention to need for urgent repairs to the
timber framing and shingles of the spire and bell turret, to the collapsed
sections of the nave floor and to the rainwater goods. However due to the
overriding priority of the riverbank work, we are only now addressing these
further repairs that are estimated to cost somewhere between £100K and £120K.
We
already have contributions and promises amounting to some £90K and are now
seeking to make good the balance through events such as the Village Open Days.
