South Shropshire is an area of outstanding natural beauty and includes six historic market towns. Events in Ashford Carbonell - For a programme of all events in the village, have a look in the Parish Magazine. Ludlow - one of Europe’s best preserved historic towns - more... Cleobury Mortimer - Named after its founding Marcher lord and a delightful market town. Church Stretton - The holidaying heart of the Shropshire Hills. Much older than its Victorian spa reputation would suggest. A must for those interested in browsing antique shops. The nearby Acton Scott historical working farm is a great hit with the kids. Clun - With imposing castle ruins, 16th century bridge, Trinity Hospital almshouses and Town Hall museum, packs a lot into a small area Bishops Castle - A bustling market town with two home brew pubs, a host of festivals and three museums. Craven Arms - The recently opened Secret Hills Discovery Centre on the southern edge of town tells the story of the Shropshire hills and is a ‘must-see’. Watch out for the beautiful Stokesay Castle with its audio tours - well worth a visit. |
