When you want to import a specific model Try using 3DS rather than another While B4 can handle .cob and others ,it seems to handle that data better than other types. At this time B4 cant handle .cob very well I have noticed exporting models out of ID4.1 as 3dmf for some reason, seems smoother than dxf when bringing them into Bryce, any others find that? They seem to smooth out better than dxf (done.) It seem that 3ds is the universal format, what advantage does obj have over other file formats. obj is the only format Bryce uses that supports texture mapping correctly. Anyone interested in exporting from Bryce to LightWave. Advantage to obj for Poser is using UVMapper to make textures. Only supports obj. Texture maps You can only go so far with Bryce textures. UVMapper is an application for creating image maps to apply to meshes. It only works with OBJ files. Q. How can you map two textures onto two sides of an object, after you've imported that object the texture from one side "bleeds through" to the other side , Is there a way around this ?
Q. Are you talking Bryce textures or imported. An imported "round shaped" object.
A. What if you made a second copy, move it slightly, and give each one it's own texture. Texture from Bryce. With flat surfaces and PICTS it would be easy. and you want like, one texture on the top and one on the bottom. but the texture, gdm, are you using imported texture or are you using Bryce to texture Preferably a PICT map. UVMapper can help Convert to obj and you can assign coordinates. I could split the model into two parts and texture each one and glue the model back together in Bryce but that increases the size of the object. UVMapper splits the map for you Several choices. The problem is that its a round obj. How do you map onto both sides of a round obj. In Bryce use Spherical or Parametric scaling method in the ML The Map must compensate for the distortion however.
A. If it's a round object you must reorient your model to your mapping method. spherical mapping whacked the texture around because the mesh was imported as dxf with no uv cords
Is there anyway to export objects other than terrains. select object, click on E box Press Ctrl -D. Doesn't work for Bryce primitives. Will work for stones, and imported objects. How can I map a PICT file onto a terrain without it getting distorted? Even with an almost flat terrain, slight bumps will cause distortion. Even Hi Rez picts have this problem. Any way to prepare the pict for the terrain bump map. Say even just a sand pict onto a terrain. Tiling is not a problem. The distortion of the terrain shape is. The pict is flat the terrain isn't. that is going to happen and is supposed to happen. imagine stretching clingwrap over the top of a head of lettuce. it gets distorted due to the shape you are forcing it to assume
