Liverpool get in Champions League
Liverpool have been given the chance to defend their Champions League crown after Uefa handed them a place in the first qualifying round for next season. The Reds beat AC Milan in last season's final but, because they finished out of the Premiership's top four, were not guaranteed entry in 2005-2006.

Liverpool win Champions League
Liverpool beat AC Milan 3-2 in a penalty shoot-out to win the Champions League after sensationally coming from three goals down at half-time. Steven Gerrard gave Liverpool hope and Vladimir Smicer and Xabi Alonso levelled in a seven-minute spell. Jerzy Dudek then saved from Andrea Pirlo and Andriy Shevchenko in the shoot-out to clinch a stunning victory.

Liverpool in Champions League Final
Luis Garcia fired Liverpool past Chelsea and into the European Cup final for the first time in 20 years. They led inside four minutes when Milan Baros beat Petr Cech to the ball and Luis Garcia tapped in, despite Chelsea claiming it did not cross the line.

10-man Liverpool win Derby
Liverpool deservedly won the 201st Merseyside derby against Everton and closed the gap to four points on their rivals for a Champions League place. Steven Gerrard side-footed in a 20-yard set piece to give Liverpool the lead.

Chelsea Clinch League Cup from Liverpool
Didier Drogba and Mateja Kezman scored in extra-time to give Chelsea victory in a pulsating Carling Cup final. John Arne Riise volleyed Liverpool ahead after 45 seconds but Steven Gerrard scored a 79th-minute own goal.

Liverpool Qualify For Carling Cup Final
Steven Gerrard scored the only goal as Liverpool beat Watford to seal their place in the Carling Cup final. Liverpool will now play either Manchester United or Chelsea in the final at the Millennium Stadium.

Owen to sign for Real

Liverpool Stadium Approved
Liverpool have been granted planning permission to build a new 60,000-seater stadium in Stanley Park to replace their current Anfield ground. The new £80m stadium will be built just 300 yards from the current ground.
