OUR FIRST HELPLINE IS LAUNCHED!

Gloucestershire Youthline is our new confidential Helpline for young people aged 11-21 who live in Gloucestershire and the surrounding areas.  The lines are currently open every Monday between 3.00 pm and 9.00 pm as well as most afternoons Tuesday to Friday between 3.00 pm and 5.20 pm.  Trained operators are taking calls and offering advice, support and information on problems that callers may have.

'Teens In Crisis is committed to helping young people who are going through difficult and painful times.  Gloucestershire YOUTHLINE will provide much needed help to hundreds of hurting young people in Gloucestershire through 97 and beyond.'

Over the next 6 months we need to raise over £3000 to cover the cost of distributing Helpline cards, leaflets and posters to the 35,000 secondary school students across the county.  Using our experience of schools work, we plan to visit all secondary schools in Gloucestershire this year.

Over the past year, we have held extensive meetings and discussions with 25 major organisations involved with young people, including Childline and the Helpline Association.  We have taken their experience and expertise and used it to form a strong operational framework for Gloucestershire Youthline.

All our operators will complete an extensive 15 week training program which will include sessions taken by Childline, who currently counsel 3,500 children per day.
