Avoriaz

Avoriaz Town Centre

Tour Operator : Crystal, Chalet : Andre, Dolores (Twice)

As I have been there three times it's not difficult to follow that I like this resort, a lot ! Avoriaz is an ideal ski resort for beginners and experts alike. It has everything you could need. Although reading some reviews it lacks some charm ? I come for the skiing and it has enough variety to keep everyone happy. There are gentle blue runs such as 'Super Morzine' through to very difficult blacks like 'The Wall' - nothing to do with Pink Floyd. I have never even attempted this myself.

Ski over into nearby Switzerland or down the long blue to Les Prodans. It is connected to one of the largest areas in the world 'Porte Du Soliel' which is all covered by the full pass. I could go on and on about all the different runs but there are just to many and varied and I can't remember them all. A good plan is to follow one of the laid out circuits. I would say a well planned trip to Chatel and then complete the circuit eventually returning to Avoriaz.
Chalet Dolores from down the hill The World Cup run - if you are up to blacks then just do it ! It ranks up there with one of the most exhilerating runs that I have done.
There are no cars allowed and an excellent village for small children.
The three holidays that I have had here were all with Crystal and I must say that they were nothing short of superb. Chalet Andre is no longer available however. The last few visits have been to Chalet Dolores. Picturesque chalet at the top of a hill. For both of these trips our chalet rep was Ronni (a bloke from Glasgow the main city in my home country). We cannot recommend him highly enough and if Crystal had more like him then they would have no worries (see Alpe D'Huez). Good chalet if a bit cramped, but aren't they all.

Jenni (my daughter) Ronni - our excellent chalet rep
Chalet Dolores Shaz on the slopes

Summary
I would go back tomorrow. Uppers - Large area plenty of variety. Central to the whole area. High at 1800m. Downer - Our chalet was at the top of a large hill (great to get out of but a hard slog back).
