The 21st century Godfrey family, living in North London, are the descendants of many, many generations of other folk some of whom may well be your ancestors as well. The Godfreys lived in Oxfordshire and the Peaks in Kent. David's mothers maiden name was Plummer, Kate's mother was originally an Ellis. While our direct ancestors have only recently moved away from the areas in which they lived for centuries, economic circumstances or just plain chance have scattered our (largely) forgotten relatives to the four winds. Today who knows where they will live or indeed how long they will stay. We seem to have been a long established British family - mainly English, a bit Welsh, a bit Irish, but who knows ? We all belong in our local community wherever we may be able to trace our ancestors.
