Ruth's Homemade Lemonade

This recipe is truly wonderful - so refreshing. I first got it from Cranks restaurant in the 70's. I make it all the time here - we are never without a jug of it in the fridge. For those of us with lemon trees it's so cheap and so easy to make.

Thames Mud - or it's correct name, Cranks Home-made Lemonade.

  1. Scrub the lemons, halve them, then squeeze out the juice.
  2. Place the juice and pulp in a large bowl with the sugar and pour 300 ml of boiling water over.
  3. Stir until sugar dissolves.
  4. Add the lemon halves and another 600 ml boiling water.
  5. Stir well, then cover and leave to cool.
  6. Strain, squeezing the juice from the lemon halves.
  7. Serve very cold.
