Ruth's Homemade Lemonade
This recipe is truly wonderful - so refreshing. I first got it from Cranks restaurant in the 70's. I make it all the time here - we are never without a jug of it in the fridge. For those of us with lemon trees it's so cheap and so easy to make.
Thames Mud - or it's correct name, Cranks Home-made Lemonade.
- 4 lemons
- 175 g of raw brown sugar
- 900 ml boiling water.
- Scrub the lemons, halve them, then squeeze out the juice.
- Place the juice and pulp in a large bowl with the sugar and pour
300 ml of boiling water over.
- Stir until sugar dissolves.
- Add the lemon halves and another 600 ml boiling water.
- Stir well, then cover and leave to cool.
- Strain, squeezing the juice from the lemon halves.
- Serve very cold.
