Tyron's TR7

The Story So Far

I have 2 TR7's at the moment, both fixed head and both Java green. The 1st car, advertised as an 'unfinished project, was purchased in May 1997 from a chap in Kent. It was already converted to a V8 when I bought it but was in need of some TLC. Some welding had been caried out, but this later transpired to be more of a 'cover-up' than a proper repair and I do not want to think about the amount of fibreglass that I later unearthed. Still, undaunted and enthusiastic I continued to remove the bodges and replace with sound steel, the car now having been stripped to a bare shell. In September 1998 TR7 number 2 'came to me'. I use this phrase because I was not looking for another car at the time, a friend of mine mentioned that his mates uncle had a TR7 sitting in his garage taking up space, so I went and had a look. I was pleasantly suprised at the cars condition and as 'uncle' only wanted £50 a deal was done (both doors were rust free and worth the money alone). The initial plan was to fix the car up quickly, and run around in a standard TR7 while I was building the V8. A warped cylinder head and badly rusted bores (after being full of water for several years) put an end to that plan. I was not about to waste money rebuilding the 4 cylinder lump with a V8 sitting impatiently in the corner of the garage! So the revised plan is for TR7 number 2 to become a V8, TR7 number 1's destiny is now uncertain.
