New 'Rossendale Rambler'- Out SoonWhy don't you check out the last (March) edition of the 'Rossendale Rambler' now. Its jam-packed with stories and info. STOP PRESS STOP PRESS This site will not be up-dated after the end of May 2000. The site has now moved to the new URL at www.waidew.btinternet.co.uk Scotland 2000 Ten Rossendale Ramblers recently returned from what is now an annual group holiday. This time they travelled to Glen Shiel and stayed at a bunkhouse in Cammas-luinie, a tiny hamlet at the end of the road in Glen Elchaig. Small but very comfortable and modern, the bunkhouse is run by Willie Nicolson who also provides endless supplies of fresh eggs, free of charge, every day. The bunkhouse is highly recommended for group bookings and anyone interested should ring Willie on 01599 588205 or email on WFholidays@aol.com During the week in Scotland the group did six walks which totalled some 20,000 ft + of ascent. There was not a drop of rain for the whole period and apart from a morning that was somewhat misty, glorious sunshine was the order of each day. There were two walks on the Isle of Skye, Bla Bheinn and Bruach na Frithe, with other walks taking place around the Glen Shiel, Glen Echaig area. One of the highlights was the ridge walk on the Five Sisters of Kintail, though unfortunately it was on that day that the mist decided to hang around till after lunch. Other attractions were the Falls of Glomach and ascents of Sguman Coinntich and Sgurr an Airgid. There will be a full, unexpurgated report of the trip on this site very shortly but in the meanwhile I will show a few photos here. Falls of Glomach with Richard balancing on the edge.
