A NIGHT IN LAKELAND
by D. O'Neill
I dream't last night of Lakeland,
Of early morning dew,
And marvelled at the song birds
As overhead they flew.
I dream't last night of Lakeland,
Of sunlight on the fell,
And sparkle on the waters,
Of lakes I know so well
I dream't last night of Lakeland,
Of high and snowy peaks,
And fern-draped, bluebell valleys,
With whispering woodland creeks.
I dream't last night of Lakeland,
Of crag and mossy glen,
And awoke to find a longing,
To be roaming there again.
I dream't last night of Lakeland,
Of all the things I've seen,
I dream't a dream of Heaven,
Recalling where I'd been.
