Well, what a good year its been, weather apart of course, with four,
six page issues of ‘The Rambler’ in a row. This is now the tenth
issue of the newsletter and I’ve really enjoyed putting together every
issue. This issue is no exception to the rule and is once more the full
six pages and in the absence of complaints from you, the readership, I
will continue to churn out issues ad infinitum. Don’t forget also that
we continue to have our Ramblers’ Web Site on the Internet and that it
is fully linked with all the other Ramblers’ sites via the main National
Ramblers’ site. Our web site can now be found on http://www.spike.u-net.com/ Having lulled you into a false sense of security, I have to say that there is a slight chill creeping into things financial now that we are three years old and considered an ‘established’ group. For the last three years we have been receiving a substantial subsidy every year but this is now to be withdrawn and we stand, virtually, on our own two feet. Our biggest annual outlay is the cost of this newsletter which costs around £80 a year to produce most of which is paid out in postage. We therefore need to look at ways of raising money to keep things turning over. We need ideas to raise money to the tune of around £100 a year and all contributions would be gratefully appreciated both financial as well as ideas. At our recent committee meeting several ideas were raised, including a monthly draw along the lines of a 50’s or 100’ds club but before we go ahead with such a scheme we need to know how many people are likely to be interested. On the back page there is a form which you might like to fill in and return to see if you would be prepared to pay £1 per month for such a draw of which just over half would go back to the members with the rest going towards group Back to The Rossendale Rambler Contents Page Back to The Rossendale Ramblers Home Page
