Amateur Radio Kits from Walford Electronics

Designed by Tim Walford G3PCJ

There is a wide range of designs, with something for most radio interests and construction abilities. These kits are for people interested in analogue radio - so no micro-processors or software defined radio here! You can start with a small project or build your own complete station.  The circuitry is what I concentrate on with the aim of maximising 'performance' for whatever you decide to spend. Most of the kits can be easily adapted to add facilities etc because of the simple mechanics and the wide range of accessories. All kits are built in stages with testing as you progress so that, with the extensive instructions, you should develop a good understanding of how the project works. When combined with low cost mechanics, these kits provide excellent value for money and most will satisfy the practical examination aspects of obtaining your licence. Choose from:-

I also publish Hot Iron quarterly for members of my Construction Club with articles, questions, etc on semi-technical subjects, and advance notices for new kits - so why not join now!

The Marsh and the Mells are now being built by the first few customers to help prove the instructions - full release shortly! Please ask me if you are interested.

The Wick is a minimalist phone TCVR for 80m usually. I doubt you can get on the air legally with anything much simpler than this!

The Mark is the new 3 band Regen TRF receiver - this is the simplest way to obtain three band operation. The matching CW transmitter is the crystalised version of the Mells.

The Minster is now available! It is top of the range and a big project, incorporating several new developments. It is a derivative of the earlier Bristol and has required much work/time to get it right for release! You can start with it in single band form for 20 - 80m and then add a second fixed band with the option of plug-in cards (as in photo below) for any band 10 - 160m.
