Amateur Radio Kits from Walford Electronics

Designed by Tim Walford G3PCJ

There is a wide range of designs, with something for most radio interests and construction abilities. These kits are for people interested in analogue radio - so no micro-processors or software defined radio here! You can start with a small project or build your own complete station.  The circuitry is what I concentrate on with the aim of maximising 'performance' for whatever you decide to spend. Most of the kits can be easily adapted to add facilities etc because of the simple mechanics and the wide range of accessories. All kits are built in stages with testing as you progress so that, with the extensive instructions, you should develop a good understanding of how the project works. When combined with low cost mechanics, these kits provide excellent value for money and most will satisfy the practical examination aspects of obtaining your licence. Choose from:-

I also publish Hot Iron quarterly for members of my Construction Club with articles, questions, etc on semi-technical subjects, and advance notices for new kits - so why not join now!

Amateur Radio in Country 2013

The date is July 21st. A slightly wider range of interests this year - not just QRP related! Home construction, historical matters, new device and projects etc all in a country setting! Do encourage your local Club to bring along a display of what you like doing! Plenty of space available and others will be interested for sure! The Construction Challenge is to build a keyed sidetone oscillator that does not thump and which can be keyed by either a normal contact, or by RF from the transmitter.  It is to be judged by Graham Firth G3MFJ from the GQRP Club. Fresh air, food from the farm and cider/beer from the next door farm! More details later!
