About Clyn Du

Clyn-Du Riding Centre, Clyn-Du Farm, Burry Port, Llanelli SA16 0BZ Tel: 01554 832546 Key: A3/C/D/F

Clyn Du Riding School is situated on the outskirts of Llanelli, West Wales, on a forty-acre site. There are a variety of resident horses/ponies, a menege for schooling and five instructors. The school's elevated position affords enviable views over the Gower Peninsula and it is difficult to conceive that less than 5 miles away beats the heart of an industrial town. Although Clyn Du is not a trekking or hacking centre, riders do sometimes get the chance to leave the confines of the menege to explore the lanes and woodlands of the surrounding area.

Safety is the watch-word at Clyn Du and while accidents can always happen around horses, all measures are taken to ensure riding is both pleasurable and as safe as it can be.

Although it is a small centre, Clyn Du offers a variety of services:

One hour lessons (£9.50 for adults, £9 for children)

Half hour lessons (£5)

Private Lessons (£15 per hour)

Lunge Lessons (£15 per hour)

Horse Training (By arrangement with Bobby)

Accompanied Hacks (prices as for one hour lessons)

In addition to the above, work experience is available and BHS courses are also run from the centre. Ceredigion College uses the centre for its equine students.

Bobby specialises in lessons for nervous riders and is a tremendous confidence-giver. Many people seem to return to riding after long breaks and the centre caters well for this kind of learner. Bobby takes things slowly and explains everything carefully.

More experienced riders are catered for too and Bobby sets the tone and pace to suit each individual.

Vaughan-Jones - or Bobby - please submit it in the "Ask Bobby" box and she will endeavour to reply within the week - usually sooner.
