ANECDOTAL evidence that this year's Wimbledon is yet to fire the public |
imagination is provided by London and Merton town crier Peter Moore. The Hear-Ye bell ringer has been coming to the tournament for the last 25 years to promote London tourism.
Moore said: "Perhaps it's the weather, but unfortunately the queues do seem to be down on last year." With his colourful costume and readiness to pose for photos, Moore has many friends among the SW19 regulars, notably film legend Charlton Heston who "always says hello". |
