Meet
Peter Moore - London's town crier, Freeman
of the City of London, member of the
Association Of The Freemen Of England And
Wales, and more guilds and associations
than one would ever thought existed. An
imposing figure, splendidly bedecked in
bright red and gold robes, he possessed
both a sonorous, booming voice and a huge
collection of hand bells.
I
met with Peter at the Internet Exchange in
the Trocadero, and found him checking his
emails - a rather incongruous sight in his
Olde-Worlde attire. He has just set up a
website to advertise his unique services,
and is extremely proud of it.
"The
Internet is the future," he enthuses as he
shows me around the site. "I can't believe
the interest it generates. I'm getting
between two and three hundred emails a
week from people all over the world."
