A FORMER Mayor of Merton has been given
the freedom of the City of London. The honour was bestowed on St
Hellier ward councillor Maxi Martin at a cere

London last Thursday. cllr Martin, who was Mayor of Merton from 2003 to 2004, said: "My family accompanied me on this very special occasion and were very honoured to witness this ancient ceremony in

such magnificent surroundings, dating back to mediaeval times." Cllr Martin was nominated for the honour by town crier Peter Moore for her work in the community and with children. |
