All the fun of the
Dickensian fair

NOVELTY: at the fair were, from left, Yasir Mazumder, town crier Peter Moore, Tiegen Jeffery, April Blossom Haywood, Charles Dickens's descendent Lucinda Dickens Hawksley, Southwark Mayor Bob Skelly, Georgia Jusan Clarke and Aysegoul Chousesinoglou

BANKSIDE: Charles Dickens's great-great-great granddaughter refused to be a scrooge on Friday when she switched on the lights at a Christmas fair.
Luicinda Dickens Hawksley, descendent of the author of A Christmas Carol, joined 200 people at the Red Cross Garden. Agnes Knoll from the Bankside Open Spaces Trust said: "It was a really lovely day. We had children from the nearby Charles Dickens Primary School who performed a play for us.
"We were glad Lucinda came along. She spoke to us about Dickens' links to the area - he used to live in a street 10 minutes away as a young boy when his father was in prison.
"There is also a park nearby called Little Dorrit, named after one of his novels."
