TOWN crier Peter Moore just couldn't keep
mum about his latest assignment - taking
part in the Queen Mother's Birthday Parade
this week.
The Professional loud-mouth from
Wandsworth joined 7,000 people on
Wednesday weaving their way through the
streets of the capital to honour Big Liz's
100th innings.
Mr
Moore, in traditional costume and ringing
his bell, was leading the procession of
the London Gardens Society, whose patron
is the Queen Mum, as it made its way along
Horse Guards Parade.
The
pomp and pageantry of the massive parade
also featured military bands, singing
children from Chicken Shed Theatre,
horses, camels, chickens and corgis, of
course.
Also
featuring large was the world's biggest
birthday cake, from which scores school
children jumped out, dressed as slices of
cake.
Mr
Moore, a town crier for many London
boroughs including Southwark, told the
SLP: "I am really excited about this."

"I am an ardent royalist, and have met the
Queen Mother on several
occassions.
"I
have been in lots of parades, but I will
never forget yesterday. It was absolutely
beautiful."
"The
Queen Mother looked radiant and everyone
enjoyed themseleves."
Due
to the secrecy surrounding the event, Mr
Moore found out less than two weeks ago
that he would be leading the horse-drawn
carriages of the London Gardens Society,
an historic organisation whose members
judge floral and home garden events such
as Southwark and Wandsworth in
Bloom.
Veteran
actor Sir John Mills made the Queen
Mother's birthday speech, while a million
rose petals were scattered on to the
audience, and 1,000 doves released into
the air.
And
for those unable to make the event the
whole thing was televised on TV.
