THINGS have
been hotting up in Heddon Street
on Thursday nights with its
transformation into a Havana high
street.
The
Cuban-themed festival, Havana in
Heddon Street, kicked off last
week with live music from Cuban
violinist Omar Puente and his
six-piece band. Hand-rolled
cigars were passed around and
hundreds turned out with a Mojito
in hand for the music, dancing
and dominoes.
Organiser
Annie Walker, chair of the Regent
Street Association, said: "This
Cuban theme is the business. All
the businesses have been
enthusiastic getting involved,
especially since they saw the
success of the jazz festival we
did last year."
The event runs throughout June
from 6pm-9pm. |
