Married: Jane Parker Skerritt (9/9/1826 - 14/11/1911) Married 25/10/1860 in Wyandotte County, Ohio. This was Jane’s second marriage; the first was to Abraham Skerritt. She was born in Barrowby and died in Malvern, Iowa.

Robert Plumb was born April 6, 1843 in Barrowby, Lincolnshire, England. He was the son of Francis Plumb and Ann (Anne) Johnson. George's youth was spent on a farm and in attending school. He immigrated to America in 1853 and located in Wyandotte County, Ohio, remaining there for about twelve years.

Jane Parker was born September 9, 1826 in Barrowby, Lincolnshire, England. Her parents were Thomas Parker and Anne Morris. Jane Parker was married to Abraham Skerritt in England.

March 25, 1856, and they at once set sail for the New World, settling in Wyandotte County, Ohio. To them a son was born, John Thomas Skerritt. Then on October 13, 1859 Jane's husband Abraham Skerritt died.

On October 25, 1860 Jane Parker Skerritt was married to Robert Plumb in Wyandotte County. Ohio.

Robert Plumb enlisted in the 144th Regiment Ohio Volunteer Infantry as a private at Camp Chase, Ohio, May 11, 1864 to serve in the Civil War. The regiment was ordered to report without delay to General Wallace at Baltimore. Upon arrival in that city the regiment reported to General Morris at Fort McHenry. On the 18th of May the regiment was relieved from duty at Fort McHenry and ordered to the Relay House. On the 13th of July the regiment was ordered to Washington and from there was moved towards Winchester. It halted at Snicker's Gap and was moved back toward Washington, but it was soon again faced toward the Shenandoah Valley, moving via Harper's Ferry. On the 13th of August a portion of the regiment, while guarding a town near Berrysville, Virginia, was attacked by Moseby's command with two pieces of artillery. The detachment lost five men killed, six wounded and sixty captured. Robert Plumb was quartered out of the army August 31, 1864 at Camp Chase, Ohio.

Robert and Jane Plumb had four daughters: Iva Ann (1865-1923) married William Axtell, Sarah Alice (Allie) (1863-????) married J. Beebe, Rose (1867-1956) married Luren Austin and Mary "May" (1870-1899) married Lucius Stevenson.

In April 1856 they decided to move to the Far West and came to Mills County, Iowa, living the first year on the farm of Valentine Plumb in Anderson Township. The following year they built their own prairie farm in Ingraham Township. Their home was one of the "Wayside Inns" on the old Indian Trail from Red Oak to Council Bluffs and many a weary traveler found shelter beneath its roof. In the days of the Methodist Circuit Rider this place was home to him whenever he chose to come.

Robert Plumb was active in the work of the church and Sunday school. Robert signed the. Articles of Incorporation" of Methodist Episcopal Church in Silver City, Iowa on October 12, 1881.

They farmed 280 acres of land as well as being a stock raiser. Robert Plumb held offices of assessor and trustee of his township. They resided on the farm until about 1896, when they moved to Malvern, Iowa. Robert Plumb died September 16, 1896 and his wife Jane Plumb died at the age of 85 on November 14, 191 I at her home in Malverno Both Robert and Jane Plumb are buried in the Malvern Cemetery.
