March Activities Topic – Modern TalesColour - Brown Creative Activities – Kerry will be writing stories with the children during March, these will be in the form of their own pictures and writing which Kerry will then
scribe with their words on the back. We hope to make a book of all the stories.
Pauline will be making some ploughed field pictures to go on our colour wall, Susy is making caterpillars to go with our sub-topic – The Hungry Caterpillar. Hazel is in charge of the big group projects, where the
children will be making a large butterfly to hang from the ceiling and an equally large caterpillar, while Pauline helps with the food that the caterpillar eats in the story.
Cat will be working with the children to create a new writing area of their design. Observation – This month we are concentrating on Communication, Language and Literacy.
Cat will be observing the children communicating with adults and their friends. She will be looking out for good interactions during imaginative play and group activities.
Susy is observing children reading books and listening to stories throughout the month. Cat will also be looking at pre-writing skills and collecting evidence from each of the children to go into their profiles. We
will be recording the children with a tape recorder singing songs and reading their own and other stories. We will also be doing quite a lot of filming and look forward to showing you this at the parents evening.
Circle-time – Circletime will be a movable feast throughout March as we are hoping that some people from the community will come and read us a story. We
will be concentrating on 'The Hungry Caterpillar ', and have found a really nice song in Music Express to learn. We will also be looking at other books such as Vegetable Glue, The Gruffalo and We're going on a
bear huntWe will be getting out as much as we can over the next month and hopefully the weather will be picking up. We will be looking at pre-writing skills in the garden too, with paint brushes and water and
writing in mud with sticks. Cookery

News
We are collecting bottle tops from pop bottles to make a mosaic for outside in the summer.
We have also just started collecting Fairtrade labels to make a mosaic for Fairtrade for an all island community project. All bottle tops and labels will be gratefully received. All children still need waterproofs, wellies, hats, gloves and warm clothes! Caterpillar Craft is looking at Spring as it's topic for the next few months. Thanks to Pippa, Jay, Hazel, Emma and Wendy for the planning and
running of the craft sessions. The last session this term is 18th March and the sessions run Tuesdays from 1.30 till 3pm. Next term will start on 8th April.
If you are interested or know someone who may be, come and speak to me or give me a ring.
We are starting to get ready for our parents information evening which will be on Thursday 24th
April from 7.30pm till 9pm. We always look at one aspect of the curriculum but this year we have decided to introduce you to the new EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage) Curriculum which we are planning to put in place for September 08, through wall and table displays. There will be plenty of opportunity to speak to staff members and to look at the work that your child has been doing over the past year. It will be our usual low key affair with refreshments and will give you the chance to speak to other parents.
I seem to still be having email problems and I am not sure why. If you are having problems getting through to me
and I haven't answered an email, please let me know. I always acknowledge emails, so if I haven't replied I probably haven't got it. ThanksEstelle xxx |
